At this student show, and also at the workshop, lessons and other learning events, You get the opportunity to expand your playing by being immersed in different styles that perhaps You are not used to, or have not been exposed to – this all serves to make you a better player by strengthening Your Musical foundation – it also helps You make the links between different styles of music.

….Rock, Indie and BLues Students showing how their playing has progressed by

exploring new styles to Expand Personal Musical Playing Horizons….

As Music Fans we can sometimes get carried away with “the differences” between different styles of music – and yet as Players You will find that You gradually become aware of not only the differences, but also the similarities between different styles.

And this is how several students, who normally would play rock, blues and indie styles of guitar, were able to get up, one by one and play Funk Guitar Solos – a style none of them necessarily aspired to – and yet it became something that would help them towards becoming better players, and helps deepen Your musical understanding as well… as You will see it can also be a great way of breaking of Your own per personal musical rut, where You just play the same old same old ideas, licks and tricks over and over again.

There is a lot to be said for being exposed and immersed to styles that You perhaps are not used to … as was the case with several students playing funk solos at the show… which You’re about to see….
